abstract = "The comprehension of the start and end of the wet season are of
fundamental importance to understand the ecological processes of
vegetation growth, to guide farmers in establishing the
appropriate dates of planting and harvesting, and to determine the
productivity of rangelands for cattle ranching activity. There are
various methods to estimate the start and end of the wet season,
most which use precipitation from weather stations, requiring the
compilation of massive amounts of data. To determine the most
frequent dates of the start and end of the wet season for Brazil
during the period of 1998-2015, as well as its relationship to
pasture productivity, data from TRMM satellite was used in the
TIMESAT software. The start and end of the wet season showed few
discrepancies, mostly in the state of Bahia, Cear{\'a}, Rio
Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, all which
have high deviation of the mode, being areas that suffer the
direct influence of the ITCZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) and
of several weather systems. The pastures located in the
central-western and northeastern regions had the least wet season
length, as such, animal supplementation could be a solution
adopted in the dry season to minimize animal production losses. On
the other hand, in the northern and southern regions, the pastures
have the longest wet season length, and in these places, the
farmers already adopt practices like the green cattle and the
association of pastures and crops to maximize pasture and animal
                         production.",
